Promotions
Enlisted (mannschaften) promotions are based on event participation, accrued in battle days. Generally, one day at a reenactment is counted as one battle day. Promotion above Obergefreiter can only be achieved by filling a staff position.

Obergrenadier - (Private First Class) 15 Battle Days
Gefreiter - (Senior Private) Minimum of 30 battle days, plus recommendation from an NCO
Obergefreiter - (Corporal) Assistant Squad Leader, other special duties, or recommendation from an NCO
The following ranks can only be attained by filling a staff billet:
Stabsgefreiter - (Staff Corporal) Company Clerk, or other special duties
Unteroffizier - (Sergeant) Squad leader or other special duties
Unterfeldwebel - (Staff Sergeant)
Feldwebel - (Sgt First Class) Platoon Sergeant
Oberfeldwebel - (Master Sergeant) Company Sergeant. Unit commander rank if numbers do not warrant an officer
Stabsfeldwebel - (Sergeant Major) Battalion Sergeant. Not authorized for use.
Leutnant - (Second Lieutenant) Platoon Commander*
Oberleutnant - (First Lieutenant) Platoon or Company Commander*
*Though Hauptman (Captain) is the authorized rank to command a company, it was very common for 1st or even 2nd Lieutenants to be seen commanding a company. Captains were often seen commanding battalions.
One officer is authorized for every 25 paid CHG members in the unit.
Notes on Rank:
1. Unit members may not wear any rank that has not been officially presented to them at a unit awards ceremony.
2. Members are encouraged to adjust their rank to fit the scenario and unit size. (ex: at an event where only 3 unit members attend, the unit leader would fight as a sergeant and not as a lieutenant.)
3. All members are expected to show proper customs and courtesies towards officers and senior NCO's of all units and nationalities.
